Paquita la del Barrio Coming to Spotlight 29 Casino

Campy, feminist and fun, rancheras singer Paquita la del Barrio has been thrilling audiences for decades with mega hits like "Rata De Dos Patas" and "Tres Veces Te Engane." Now she's coming to Spotlight 29 Casino on March 13.

Paquita la del Barrio, which translates as "Franny from the neighborhood, "
is the stage name of Francisca Viveros Barradas. Born in Alto Lucero, Veracruz, Mexico, Paquita has developed a fervent fan base who pack her concerts and sing along joyfully to songs they love by the singer they adore.

Paquita started her career in Mexico City in the early 1970s, and ever since has been popularizing songs that take a stance against Mexico's sexist male culture, perhaps most notably "Rata De Dos Patas, " which translates as "two-legged rat." She often playfully teases her male audience members with her signature phrase "Me estas oyendo, inutil?" ("Are you listening to me, you good-for-nothing?")

Paquita has a wealth of albums to her credit, including her most recent two-disc album, "La Historia...Los Exitos, " which was released late last year.

Put the spotlight on fun at Spotlight 29 Casino, the Coachella Valley's most exciting place to play. Spotlight 29 Casino is a business venture of the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians.
