| New England Guitar Festival Friday, September 14th marks the kickoff in a series of regional guitar festivals in what will be a true celebration of the guitar. Held at Boston's Bayside Expo Center, the planners of the New England Guitar Festival anticipate a crowd of over 10, 000 guitar-playing attendees. The event features top-name entertainment and a series of attendee workshops and seminars conducted by professional musicians, music educators and teachers. "We've got an impressive lineup that's going to draw players and enthusiasts of all types and interests. The performances and instructional sessions are really going to make the festival a destination point, " said Premier Guitar Festivals president Kevin Kopec. "The whole concept of our festival is built on providing a meaningful show experience for guitar players of all capabilities and interests. The New England Guitar Festival will be a multifaceted experience, complete with dealer and manufacturer exhibits, instruction, and entertainment. It is truly a celebration of the guitar." Kopec explains these weekend festivals fill a void between flea markets and large, national guitar shows. Attendees will get a chance to celebrate guitar music with an All Star Guitar Night, which will feature an evening of exciting performances from well-known, respected guitarists like Robben Ford, Duke Robillard, Monte Montgomery and many others. Kopec said some lesser-known, aspiring artists are planned to get some exposure too with the Play Your Heart Out competition. 335 Records, the new label formed by renowned guitar artist Larry Carlton will award a recording contract to the winners in three categories: hottest new guitarist, singer, and band. "This is a great opportunity for any aspiring musician. People love this kind of vivid, fresh talent on display, and with the Berklee School of Music nearby and Boston as our host city we're expecting to have an exciting contest, " said Kopec. Winners of each category are chosen and will then move on to a final competition scheduled in 2008. Premier Guitar Festivals has scheduled two other venues for 2007, and two for 2008. Premier Guitar Festivals LLC is the events division of Gearhead Communications, publisher of Premier Guitar magazine. The show division capitalizes on a unique and powerful connection between the company's publication, its online portal (www.premierguitar.com) and its association with TrueFire, the leader in online guitar education. One additional way that Premier Guitar Shows distinguishes itself from one-day flea markets is with its unique, online show registration. Dealers of new, used, and vintage guitars can register online at www.premierguitarfestivals.com and choose their booth location, size, and any enhancements they desire. This can be done for any of the Premier Guitar Festival's events. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
