Prince And Dr. Cornel West Address The Man... ’We Tired Of Y'all’

Famed intellectual and Princeton professor Dr. Cornel West joins close friend, music superstar Prince to send a frank letter to "the man" pointing out hypocrisy as it relates to the war, the environment, corrupt government, the economy and other pertinent issues. The song, "Dear Mr. Man" will be featured on Dr. Cornel West's forthcoming music project 'Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations' that also features stars of Hip-Hop and R&B including Andre 3000, Talib Kweli, Rhymefest Jill Scott and others (August 14). The goal of the project is to use Hip-Hop and R&B to educate and entertain.

The horn-laced funk track features Prince singing while Dr. West interjects with his spoken word commentary. Princes questions, "Who said that to kill was a sin and start every single war that your people be in/Who said that water was a precious commodity then dropped a big black oil slick in the deep blue sea/ Who told me, Mr. Man, that working around the clock would buy me a big house in the hood, cigarette ad on every block..."

Dr. West adds, "We tired of y'all spying on fellow citizens/ we tired of ya'll justifying war/ we tired of ya'll torturing innocent people..."

The 14-track album as a whole offers an insightful critical and commentary on the state of the world including such touchstone issues as racism, racial profiling, government deception, the "N-word" and a controversial track that equates America's post-911 fears to being black in America. The record will be released in a partnership with Dr. Cornel West's Black Men Who Mean Business (BMWMB) via Hidden Beach's newest subsidiary imprint, Hidden Beach Forum, which was created to prompt discussion, debate and evaluation of the human condition.
