Chris Williams: Nomination for Orange County Music Awards

Acclaimed jazz vocalist, Chris Williams, has received two nominations for the Orange County Music Awards, to be held March 31 at The Grove in Anaheim. Chris has received nominations for Best Song, for his rendition of “Comes Love” and Best Latin for his album “premodernism”. “Comes Love” was originally written and composed by Lew Brown, Sammy Stept, and Charles Tobias. The album features a mix of Straight-ahead, Bebop and Latin jazz.

“Premodersim” is Chris Williams first album and is the product of a nine-month collaboration with co-producer Wayne Cook. Cook has worked with music industry giants like Pat Boone, Madonna, and numerous world-class jazz artists including The Yellowjackets and Alan Paul of the Manhattan Transfer.

”Premoderism” offers listeners a new take on the old standards, including a Bebop version of Elvis Presley's “All Shook Up,” a samba take on “Come Fly With Me,” and a gorgeous bossa arrangement of Cole Porter's immortal “Begin the Beguine”. Performing with Chris Williams on “premodernism” is pianist Mark Massey, saxophone and flutist Justo Almario, guitarist Blake White, drummer Grant Childers, and double bassist Ron Suffredini. “premodernism” is available for purchase on www.cwjazz.com.

”I am absolutely thrilled to be nominated for two Orange County Music Awards,” Williams said. “This is a tremendous achievement that has come with hard work and the support of some amazing musicians that also performed on the album.”

Chris has toured extensively in Europe and the United States. He has received accolades as a “Fabulous Find” by KLAC radio, featured on the Fox 11 News, and received radio recognition on KKJZ 88.1 FM with Helen Borgers and on KABC 790 AM with Doug McIntyre. Chris performs Wednesday through Saturday at the 5-star Ambrosia Restaurant and weekly at the Vault VIP Lounge inside the OC Pavilion in Santa Ana. Chris also performs the third Tuesday of each month at the famous Steamers Jazz Caf in Fullerton.

Chris Williams has been performing professionally since he was fifteen years old. Now at 28, this jazz sensation has impressed audiences with his intense passion, vocal proficiency and musical maturity. He has built a loyal following, as his highly entertaining performances are met with great enthusiasm by people of all ages.
