| Freshlyground in the forest The amazingly eclectic, seriously funky seven-piece band Freshlyground are performing at the Paul Cluver Forest Amphitheatre on Saturday 7 January. In what promises to be an evening of hip-swaying energy, Freshlyground will dazzle with their unique mix of musical styles. Since the release of their debut album Jika Jika, this ensemble have wowed audiences with their new-South African sounds, a mélange of African folk, jazz, reggae, and dance music. Lead singer Zolani Mahola is a natural thriller, with a wide-raging voice and magical stage presence. Having recently swept away an audience of almost 10 000 at Kirstenbosch, Freshlyground will perform infectious melodies (such as their big hit Doo-bee-Doo), mesmerizing grooves and Afro-rock anthems - all in the most natural of music cathedrals, the magical Paul Cluver Forest Amphitheatre. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
