Avago Technologies Introduces New WCDMA Band 1 Duplexer

Avago Technologies has announced two ultra-small, WCDMA duplexers. Using new and improved FBAR (film bulk acoustic resonator) technology, Avago's miniaturized ACMD-7602/ACMD-7612 duplexers deliver best in class transmit and receive insertion loss for UMTS band 1 handsets, femtocells, and data terminals.

Optimized for the UMTS Band 1 frequency band, Avago's FBAR-based ACMD-7602/ACMD-7612 improves talk time and handset sensitivity in a miniature 3.0 x 2.5 x 1.2 mm max. package. The new duplexer offers a typical 1.1 dB insertion loss in the Tx band to minimize current drain from the power amplifier, industry-best receiver sensitivity and dynamic range support with typical Rx band insertion loss of 1.1 dB, interference blocking exceeding 53 dB, and over 43 dB of noise rejection. ACMD-7612 is the mirror image of the ACMD-7602 and ships in the same ultra-small package with best-in-class performance levels.

The performance and size advantages of Avago's new duplexers make it suited for several market applications, such as UMTS handsets and femtocells. UMTS is a global standard for 3G mobile communication systems designed for high data rate applications. UMTS Band 1 networks have already been deployed in both Europe and Asia. Femtocells act as small cellular base stations for the home or office that enable wireless providers to improve coverage and provide new services, such as IPTV.
