| Starent Networks Intros Home Agent for Mobile WiMAX Networks Starent Networks has announced its Home Agent for Mobile WiMAX networks. The solution is designed to provide seamless roaming between 3G and Mobile WiMAX networks, uniform delivery of Starent In-line Services and utilization of common billing and accounting infrastructure. The Starent Home Agent for Mobile WiMAX joins the Starent Access Services Network Gateway as part of the company's Mobile WiMAX product portfolio. Mobile operators are continually seeking ways to further enhance the subscribers' experience through expanded service offerings and network improvements. To address this, Starent Networks' WiMAX-ready HA combines subscriber and network intelligence with high performance to provide network mobility, offer Starent In-line Services and handle network traffic efficiently. The HA function provides an anchoring point for subscriber connections, enabling roaming throughout the Mobile WiMAX network, while maintaining services. Starent Networks' HA is supported on its ST16 and ST40 multimedia core platforms. The Starent ST16 and ST40 platforms are capable of supporting HA services for both 3G and Mobile WiMAX networks concurrently in the same platform. As a result, the Starent solution is designed to support seamless roaming capabilities that offer handoffs between various access technologies including 3G and Mobile WiMAX. By deploying a Starent WiMAX-ready HA, mobile operators can provision common Starent In-line Services, such as Intelligent Traffic Control or Enhanced Charging Service, for both the 3G and Mobile WiMAX network. Furthermore, the mobile operator can realize cost and network efficiency benefits by utilizing a common billing and accounting infrastructure for both networks. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Networking News :: home page |
