| Concurrent Announces New MediaHawk Software Release Concurrent has announced a new software release for the MediaHawk 4500 line of servers. Available now for shipment, the new software will provide additional support for ISA, NGOD and Concurrent back offices as well as a variety of new features and services. In addition to providing support for additional back offices, the newest MediaHawk release provides support for the MediaCache 1000, Concurrent's first product in a line of non-volatile, flash memory storage products. The MediaHawk 4500 also now supports Regional File Server functionality, allowing for better than stream-rate distribution of content from a library complex to an edge complex to support distributed and hybrid architectures. Stream density has been further improved to 1,920 streams at 3.75 Mbps per 2RU server, enabling both small and large scale deployments with minimized footprint and power consumption. (The previous MediaHawk 4500 release supported 1,600 streams at 3.75 Mbps per server) The MediaHawk 4500 is the VOD platform featuring Gatling Resilient Streaming Technology, which automatically detects failures and instantly routes stream demands to alternate resources in order to prevent any loss of VOD sessions. The MH4500 leverages technology such as that employed in Time Warner's Emmy-winning Start Over product, enabling simultaneous ingest of hundreds of channels in both standard and high-definition formats. The MediaHawk's multi-level cache approach and economical commercial hardware design allows service providers to employ scalable, pay-as-you-grow deployment models. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Networking News :: home page |
