Toshiba Launches Enhanced Video Communication Solution

Toshiba has announced the launch of its newly enhanced Video Communication Solution (VCSTM) 2.0 for its Strata CIX family of VoIP business communication systems.

Toshiba's VCS provides point-to-point (P2P) video conferencing, desktop/application sharing, file transfer and message board capabilities for up to three parties. VCS 2.0 brings video telephony to Toshiba's full line of telephones and endpoints, including Strata IP desk telephones, Toshiba digital telephones, and Toshiba SoftIPT soft phones.

During a telephone conversation, the Session Member List of the VCS console displays all the Strata users who have VCS installed. VCS users can click to select users and initiate collaboration sessions, such as sharing their Windows desktop or applications, sending files to each other or posting text messages to a message board.

Features include:
- Full integration with the Strata CIX System — Fully integrated with Strata CIX systems, including virtually any type of Strata endpoint, VCS also supports multiple systems networked together using Strata Net.
- Pre-Installation — VCS 2.0 comes pre-installed when shipped with Toshiba's Media Application Server (MAS) platform including a free trial license enabling users to try VCS with the purchase of MAS.
- Video Telephony — Functionality is integrated into the telephony capabilities. Friendly and easy-to-use automatic start/log-on VCS options allow users to see, hear and interact with each other, without having to click a mouse or push a button to stop or start their video communications. Strata users will appreciate Video Telephony features including up to three-party video conferencing, video forward/hold/park/pickup and video transfer.
- Collaboration — The VCS collaboration console enables users to share their desktops, applications or documents. Users can collaborate on projects or workgroup discussions and can simultaneously edit the same files or take control of remote computers during the VCS session.
- File Transfer — The VCS File Transfer console enables easy sending/receiving of files during VCS sessions.
- Message Board — An easy-to-use Message Board console enables VCS users to type text messages during VCS sessions to everyone or selected users.

- Endpoints — Toshiba digital telephones, Toshiba IP telephones, and Toshiba SoftIPT soft phones;
