Zetera Delivers Storage over IP Platform Support for Mac OS X

Zetera has announced its Z-SAN technology will support Apple Mac computers running the Mac OS X operating system. Zetera's network storage architecture, called Z-SAN, is reshaping the storage industry. From enterprise to consumer storage applications, Zetera technology replaces incumbent solutions with network storage that is faster, more feature-rich and more scalable. Z-SAN SoIP architecture uses Internetworking Protocol to deliver to the masses all of the benefits of a Storage Area Networks without the expense or complexity.

Consumers using Mac computers today have limited choices for external storage, choosing between USB or Firewire external disk drives and slow-performing NAS solutions that provide sharing. Zetera's Z-SAN technology delivers protected, external sharable storage with performance that exceeds that of firewire 400 and USB 2.0 disk drives.

Business users are constantly grappling with change, driving growth in their storage strategies. Zetera's Z-SAN technology eliminates trade-offs for business users among price, performance, scalability and simplicity, providing robust storage solutions that are easily managed.

Zetera licenses its technology to manufacturers of leading storage and network solutions. In late 2005, NETGEAR introduced Storage Central (SC101) to the consumer market with great success. Based on Z-SAN technology, Storage Central delivers exceptional performance and seamless scalability. Bell Microproducts introduced the Hammer Z-Series to business users, providing benefits typically found in large storage systems, but at price points and simplicity attractive to small businesses.

Unlike other storage architectures, Z-SAN technology simultaneously optimizes the four fundamental factors that drive the success of a network storage system – scalability, performance, reliability and cost. Z-SAN technology offers network storage that is simple enough to be configured and managed by non-technical users and cuts costs by eliminating expensive hardware.

Products based on Z-SAN technology are simple to install, configure and manage. In addition, they offer full virtualization, delivering storage and data sharing across multiple devices in different locations, without the burden of complex and expensive virtualization software. Zetera-enabled storage can reside anywhere on the network, making it available to be shared, spanned with other network storage, or mirrored to any location.
