WinMagic Launches a German Version of Its SecureDoc 4.2

WinMagic has launched a German language version of its SecureDoc 4.2 full-disk encryption solution. Developed in response to increased demand from its German, Austrian, and Swiss channel partners and customers, the German version includes the full SecureDoc software, SecureDoc Enterprise Server, and a complete set of manuals to make it simple for German enterprises to protect internal, partner, and customer data – even on easily-stolen mobile devices which the FBI estimates are responsible for 50 per cent of network breaches.

Suited for Europe's increasingly-mobile workforce, WinMagic's SecureDoc full-disk encryption protects all data on desktops, laptops, and handheld devices by encrypting the entire hard drive at all times. SecureDoc's 'install-and-forget' preboot design simply replaces the Microsoft Windows GINA with a SecureDoc log-on screen to not only provide real-time data protection that is totally transparent to the user, but also prevent intruders bypassing the encryption level.

In addition, SecureDoc's preboot design makes it simple to integrate full-disk encryption with multi-factor authentication, such as smart cards, tokens, biometric devices, and PKI authentication technologies before the operating system brings up the log-on screen.

SecureDoc Enterprise Server integrates with Active Directory, LDAP, and PKI servers to let administrators install, encrypt, and configure user machines centrally, and enables secure, yet flexible creation and distribution of keys and key files, as well as assignment of user access privileges. Administrators can customize password rules for the entire network, as well as recover lost passwords through a secure one-time challenge/response online engine. Most importantly, the unique design of the SecureDoc Enterprise Server Key file management eliminates all the vulnerabilities associated with the common 'Master Password' scenario.

Built on the PKCS#11 standards, and featuring the AES 256-bit encryption algorithm, SecureDoc encrypts all residual data, temporary files, paging files, and hidden partitions that are often left unprotected. With the ambitious goal of "whatever you can do with an unencrypted disk, you should be able to do with a disk encrypted by SecureDoc", SecureDoc provides disk-imaging capabilities and full support for Windows built-in defragmentation software and hibernation mode. Users can even resize partitions on encrypted disks, or run repair utilities and perform data recovery on disks in case of virus infection.
