INGENICA Premiers Uniprint 6.0

INGENICA has announced that in response to the increased demand for its market-leading UniPrint server-based printing solution, it will demonstrate its all-new UniPrint 6.0 and UniPrint for 64-bit for the first time in North America at Citrix iForum in Orlando, Florida, October 22-25, 2006.

Specifically developed to eliminate the time and expense associated with managing different manufacturers' print drivers within a Citrix server-based environment, UniPrint 6.0 and the all-new UniPrint for 64-Bit have been priced to make enterprise-class printing functionality a cost-effective reality for organizations of all sizes.

UniPrint 6.0's universal printer driver technology eliminates the need to install specific manufacturer's printer drivers, making it easy to print documents from any hosted application. By removing printer driver compatibility issues, UniPrint increases server stability, simplifies printer driver management, eliminates printer-related help-desk costs, and provides immediate productivity gains as users can now print to any available printer – in the office, at home, or at a remote site. UniPrint for 64-Bit provides the same printing advantages for organizations utilizing the more powerful servers and applications in today's 64-bit server-based computing environments.

UniPrint 6.0 and UniPrint for 64-Bit have been designed to simplify printer-driver installation and administration, while simultaneously improving network performance. UniPrint Server 6.0 and INGENICA's newest product, UniPrint for 64-bit, are scheduled to be released October 31, 2006. Latest product enhancements include full Active Directory integration to make it simple to configure UniPrint settings using Group Policy, a new MSI install package to allow for application deployment through Active Directory, a new administrator-friendly management console, improved file compression to further reduce print-related bandwidth utilization, and enhanced email features that can support any SMTP server on the network.

When printing, UniPrint creates a Portable Document Format (PDF) print job that is returned to the client workstation via UniPrint's private virtual channel. This makes it simple for users to instantly print, preview, save, or email print jobs. To ensure data security, if the client device has a network printer defined, print jobs are automatically sent to the default printer. Also, as UniPrint's PDF files are significantly smaller than other printing formats, printer bandwidth utilization is reduced by over 90 percent – resulting in less work for the server, improved application performance, and faster, more efficient printing.
