| Kodak Launches Exciting Service on New Scanners Kodak Service & Support has announced that the new i1200 and i1300 Series workgroup and departmental document scanners will now come with a comprehensive guarantee service – a three year next day business exchange warranty for free. Kodak is the first scanner manufacturer to increase the standard service warranty from 12 to 36 months, also promising that faulty scanners will replaced within the next business day. This offer applies to the whole of Western Europe and all four models in the series: the i1210 simplex and i1220 duplex for workgroup applications, and the i1310 simplex and i1320 duplex for departmental applications. As an option, customers can also extend this replacement warranty to receive on-site support which means that a Kodak service technician will visit the customer site the next working day to repair the fault. The replacement warranty and on-site service upgrade are rounded off by Kodak's comprehensive scanner hotline support which helps to minimise downtimes. The English-speaking hotline will put customers in touch with well-trained product specialists who will help diagnose problems, guide users through software installations and handle all warranty issues, thereby helping customers to solve their own problems immediately. If this is not possible, Kodak will arrange for the hardware to be replaced or for an on-site visit to be organised. The KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series have the smallest operational footprint available today, combined with a series of new unique features to improve ease-of-use and practicality. These include the following: • Tilt and scan — Scanner users often have to physically bend around their scanners in order to operate the units. The new KODAK scanners are the first in industry to have been ergonomically designed and include an adjustable feeder which means the angle can be conveniently set to accommodate ad-hoc or batch scanning jobs for any available workspace. • Smart touch scanning —sending images to different destinations can be a complicated procedure, and the KODAK i1200 and i1300 Scanners now have Smart Touch scanning capabilities which simplifies this whole process. At a touch of button, end-users can now easily scan documents to print, network folders, desktop applications or automatically create searchable PDFs and emails. • Attachable, tethered flatbed accessory — The optional, detachable, tethered flatbed unit connects to the scanner base using a two-metre cable. This means it can be placed to best suit space and workflow requirements as well as capturing fragile or bound documents at high optical resolutions of up to 1200 dpi. Most competitive scanners do not have such flexibility while the few that do, only offer a fixed mechanical connection. The KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series can scan a wide range of documents from wallet-sized plastic ID cards to A4 paper, even long documents like credit or insurance applications, loans, medical monitoring strips and geological exploration monitoring logs. The i1200 Series is designed for workgroup applications with a scanning speed of 30 pages per minute, while the i1300 is aimed at departmental level usage with up to 60 pages per minute in black & white, greyscale and colour. The four models are available in versions for single-sided and double-sided scanning, and come with Kodak's enhanced Perfect Page image-processing technology to ensure high-quality scanned images. Perfect Page has features to de-skew and crop images, along with dynamic iThresholding which automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of documents, no matter what order they are scanned in. This immediately improves staff productivity as images don't have to be rescanned or settings altered on a per document basis. It is expected that the KODAK i1200 and i1300 scanners will be available from Kodak sales partners from the end of September 2006. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Networking News :: home page |
