| Axis Introduces First Professional Video Server Supporting IPv6 Axis Communications has announced the AXIS 243SA Video Server, the first one-channel video server that supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). IPv6 is the evolutionary Internet upgrade that will expand IP addresses from 32 bits to 128 bits, effectively allowing the Internet to grow exponentially in terms of the total amount of data transmitted. The AXIS 243SA is suited for installations that require full-motion video, such as casinos, airports, traffic surveillance and prisons. It provides de-interlaced video in 4CIF resolution using both MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression. The video server has integrated two-way audio functionality which enables users to hear intruders and communicate orders. It supports dome cameras and pan/tilt/zoom cameras through a built-in serial port. The AXIS 243SA includes some event-management tools, including video motion detection, pre/post-alarm buffering, and triggered event functionality with alarm notification. The video server is supported by the industry's largest base of application software through the Axis ADP program. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Networking News :: home page |
