Shunra Unveils Its VE Network Appliance STN Model

Shunra has unveiled its next-generation network appliance, the VE Network Appliance STN model, which includes new features that support enterprise-scale Voice over IP solutions. The VE Network Appliance STN model is the heart of the Shunra VE solution, Shunra's technology, which creates an exact replica of any production network environment in a pre-production environment. With Shunra VE, users can fully assess VoIP platform performance and call quality, as well as any enterprise application or service, under current and future real-world conditions - before rollout into production.

The VE Network Appliance STN model is a high-end network simulator that functions as a bridge, switch or router and alters the speed at which network traffic flows across the local area network, exposing data packets to the same conditions and network impairments to which they would be subjected on the wide area network. The VE Network Appliance STN model is extremely flexible and can automatically detect any lab environment and seamlessly integrate within it. Additionally, users can directly connect actual VoIP phones to the VE Network Appliance STN model and hear, first-hand, how voice calls will sound over an existing or projected production network.

The next-generation VE Network Appliance STN model delivers advanced new features that support enterprise-scale VoIP platforms, including:
- Extended scalability and higher capacity enables users to test a high volume of concurrent VoIP calls.
- Higher port density enables users to simulate complex networks, such as full mesh VoIP networks.
- Flexible architecture and real time control over test parameters enables users to support multiple concurrent test beds with a single network appliance.

Shunra VE with the VE Network Appliance STN model provides a comprehensive testing solution for both enterprise users and VoIP vendors. For enterprise users, Shunra VE can accurately evaluate and compare different VoIP vendor solutions under their own real-life enterprise network conditions, and even determine call quality at all remote locations. Shunra VE can also be used to understand the impact of VoIP traffic on other mission critical data services running across the same converged network, all before actually deploying the VoIP solution across their enterprise environment. With this information, users can select the most appropriate VoIP solution and make the right infrastructure investments needed to support IT and business objectives. Additionally, after a VoIP solution has been rolled out across the enterprise, Shunra VE can be used to assess the impact of future infrastructure changes, network traffic growth, and the introduction of new remote locations and/or applications onto the network, on VoIP performance - before any changes are actually made.

For VoIP solution vendors, Shunra VE provides a way to develop, test and optimize their solutions for all possible network conditions and customer environment idiosyncrasies, during product development. Furthermore, it enables vendors to prove exactly how their VoIP solutions will perform across a customer's actual network environment, during the pre-sales process.
