| SonicWALL Extends Its Content Security Manager Series SonicWALL has extended its Content Security Manager (CSM) series with an enhanced appliance designed for organizations of up to 1.000 concurrent users. The CSM 3200 allows IT administrators to streamline network security management by combining simplified Internet control and monitoring with comprehensive gateway and desktop threat protection in a single, easily managed device costing a fraction of the price of comparable solutions. IT spend among small to medium sized businesses (SMB) overtook enterprise IT spend for the first time in 2005, according to AMI Partners research. At the same time, SMBs are becoming increasingly reliant on the Internet for access to information and resources. The increasingly mobile workforce also introduces significant risk to networks and data. A 2005 CSI/FBI Computer Crime and Security survey reported that virus attacks were the prime cause of financial losses from computer crime while unauthorized access was the second most significant factor. The new SonicWALL CSM 3200 addresses these issues in a solution for up to 1.000 concurrent users. The new CSM 3200 delivers precise control over Internet usage in conjunction with real-time gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware and intrusion prevention plus enforced desktop/client anti-virus and anti-spyware capabilities, providing small to medium sized businesses with end-to-end unified threat management. Acting as a transparent bridge, the appliance works behind the majority of third party firewalls. The CSM 3200 joins the CSM 2100, which offers similar security, productivity and compliance management capabilities for up to 100 concurrent users, and the new Email Security appliances and software, as part of SonicWALL's growing solution set in secure content management. Utilizing the high-performance SonicWALL deep packet inspection architecture, the CSM series attacks malicious Internet threats before they infect the network, stopping additional threats that could slip past less robust content filtering solutions, while an onboard dynamic rating engine enables users to obtain real-time ratings for new, unrated URLs. Key features: o Transparent network integration - Intelligent secure bridging architecture allows the CSM 3200 to be inserted into most network configurations without disruption. o Threat Prevention - Utilizes SonicWALL's Deep Packet Inspection technology to inspect the data at the application layer, across any port and on virtually any protocol. o Application Filters (P2P, IM, multimedia and VoIP controls) - Policy-based control of networking applications, to prevent profligate consumption of network resources, compliance violations or legal liabilities. o Dynamic Rating Engine - The CSM's Dynamic Rating engine allows for unknown web-pages to be tokenized and categorized on-the-fly, extending policy control to uncharted content. o Safe Search Enforcement - Enforces search restrictions on: Yahoo, Google, MSN, Altavista, Lycos, Alltheweb, and Dogpile. o Single Sign On with Directory Services Connector - The Directory Services Connector agent queries the workstation (or directory) to automatically determine the user's identity, and to apply the correct policy. o Viewpoint Reporting - Viewpoint is included with the CSM as a dedicated reporting platform allowing administrators to generate a broad diversity of usage and statistical reports. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Networking News :: home page |
