| Juniper Networks Delivers the Next-Generation Multiservice Edge Juniper Networks has announced its next-generation, mid-range, 10 Gigabit-enabled multiservice edge router. With advanced applications driving a more comprehensive set of sophisticated requirements at the edge, Juniper is delivering the M120, the industry’s most feature-rich and scalable multiservice edge routing platform. As the newest addition to Juniper’s M-series product family, the M120 offers unique architectural innovations and superior redundancy, interface scalability and performance. The M120 Multiservice Edge Router offers 10 Gigabit density with a flexible service configuration that enables traditional and mobile telecommunications providers, cable operators and large enterprises to more efficiently migrate to next-generation, converged IP business and residential services. The M120 utilizes the same JUNOS software that is deployed today in the world’s leading service provider networks. The versatile M120 platform is suited for a wide variety of deployments, including: - Scalable Multiservice Edge - Optimized for smaller to medium-sized points of presence (POPs) and central offices; - Small and Medium Core Networks - Ideal for Internet peering and route reflector applications, delivering sophisticated routing capabilities with multiple 10 Gigabit links; - Collapsed POP Router - Capable of providing both edge services and backbone routing on a single platform with both 10 Gigabit uplinks and a wide range of customer-facing interfaces; - Ethernet Aggregation at the Multiservice Edge - Includes support for up to 128 Gigabit Ethernet subscriber ports, two 10 GB uplinks, and full support for Ethernet, VPLS, MPLS, IP, Frame Relay and ATM VPNs; - Large Enterprises - Provides a powerful WAN gateway solution for large enterprises and data centers. Offers support for Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs, including enterprise MPLS and VPLS with the advanced Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities required to support voice, video and a variety of data services. The M120 is based on the I-chip, Juniper’s next-generation packet forwarding engine technology that provides efficiency gains for high scalability and performance. By increasing scalability with enhanced application and user-specific quality of service features, the M120 enables providers to increase the number of services and customers supported per platform without decreasing performance. This not only increases service flexibility, but can also drive down costs per subscriber. As the first platform in the industry to support redundancy for the packet forwarding engines, the M120 introduces new levels of high availability and reliability features to the multiservice edge market. The M120 supports a wide range of configurations, including 1+1 and 1:N redundancy and provides operators the flexibility to optimize the platform to best meet customers’ unique reliability requirements. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Networking News :: home page |
