Cape Clear Leads the ESB Market

Cape Clear Software was among a select group of companies invited by Forrester Research to participate in the June 30, 2006 Forrester Wave report on Enterprise Service Bus authored by analysts Ken Vollmer and Mike Gilpin. In this evaluation, Cape Clear was cited as a leader in the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) space. As this most recent report points out, "Cape Clear was also the leader in the ESB-only report included in 'The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Service Bus, Q4 2005'".

According to the report: "Cape Clear retains its leading position in Forrester's latest review of the standalone ESB market. The vendor is one of the pioneers in the enterprise service bus (ESB) category and continues to be among the leaders in technology innovation and strategic vision in this space. Aggressive pursuit of emerging Web services standards and communication protocols, coupled with good tools for developing and deploying services, make Cape Clear a good choice for companies looking for an advanced ESB that can meet many service-oriented architecture (SOA) requirements".

Cape Clear received the highest score among all vendors in the areas of strategic alliances, corporate strategy, and control and change. Cape Clear also scored 4.20 out of 5 on criteria assessing its overall strategy, and 4.10 out of 5 on its current offering".

Commenting on corporate strategy, the "Forrester Wave Vendor Summary, Q2 2006", report on Cape Clear concludes, "One of Cape Clear's advantages in the market is the clarity of a single, focused vision from its founder, Annrai O'Toole, who has stayed well aligned with, and even ahead of, industry trends. The company has had some success in building out an executive team that can extend and execute this vision. The company's strategy has been effective in gaining it high visibility in the ESB market, out of proportion to its size".

The vendor summary also found that "Cape Clear is an especially good fit for buyers that:
• Have a complex and heterogeneous environment – but seek simplicity…
• Are integrating custom applications and packaged applications…
• Prefer to work in a fully Eclipse-based environment…"

The Forrester Wave Vendor Summary, Q2 2006 further highlights that "Cape Clear has improved its scores on connectivity since the last evaluation through its adapter partnerships with NetManage and OnWeb". It also notes that "Cape Clear's improved overall score in this second evaluation is due to upgrades in the latest release of its ESB product, as well as the decision to give higher weightings to key areas of SOA capability where real differentiation exists between the evaluated vendors".
