Radware Introduces Its Application Switch 5 Platform

Radware has announced its new Application Switch 5 platform. AS5 is designed to optimize the performance and reliability of business-critical and revenue-generating applications for transaction completion, business continuity and enhanced user productivity for large enterprises and carriers. The AS5 application switch enables data center consolidation by addressing the growing demand for more powerful platforms that support integrated functionality, more segments and higher bandwidth networks.

Based on Radware's advanced three-tiered application delivery architecture, the AS5 platform reduces infrastructure costs and TCO with the fastest L2/L3 ASIC packet switching technologies for 10Gbps connectivity, low latency switching and wide port density. Four parallel dedicated state-of-the- art network processors handle L4-7 flow classification, packet manipulation and security pattern matching. RISC processors are used for complex L7 application-smart configuration, management, monitoring, reporting and add-on services.

Keeping in line with the increasing adoption of broadband and increased transaction volume, Radware's AS5 platform provides the power needed to support the demanding application requirements of new web services and XML applications, rich media content services and interactive services such as VoIP, video conferencing, information sharing and collaboration.

Designed for the challenging network environments of large enterprises and carriers, AS5 provides an agile, application-smart infrastructure that transparently adapts network behavior to accommodate diverse applications and streamline business processes. Radware's introduction of the AS5 extends the performance capacity of the company's family of scaleable purpose-built application delivery platforms, providing customers with a seamless migration path to add more power as demanded by their dynamic environments.

The AS5 doubles the throughput capacity of the previously-released enterprise AS4 platform from 3Gbps to 6Gbps and provides the industry's fastest L7 performance by eliminating processing contention with dedicated network processes, freeing the CPU to run integrated real-time health monitoring, complex L7 traffic redirection and load balancing, QoS traffic shaping and bandwidth management, as well as intrusion prevention and denial- of-service security capabilities.

The AS5 includes:
o 2 x 10 GE and 17x1GE ports
o A high speed ASIC switching fabric with an 88GBps non-blocking backplane
o MPC 7448 1.7GHz CPU
o 4x800MHz dedicated networking processors
o Internal bypass and dual power supply options

As the high-end platform that powers Radware's APSolute suite of integrated application delivery products, the first products that will be available on the AS5 will be Radware's AppDirector 6000 application delivery controller for optimizing large server farms, and DefensePro 6000 for cleaning peering points and high speed backbones from malicious traffic and denial of service attacks. Like all Radware platforms, the AS5 is managed by APSolute Insite, Radware's centralized management tool that provides users with the simplicity of managing a "virtual" all-in-one solution with the power and flexibility of a scalable architecture.
