C&M Offers Camera Link Cable Assemblies

C&M Corporation now offers Camera Link cable assemblies designed to provide a standard method of communication between digital cameras and frame grabbers. A standard cable connection will help to reduce manufacturers’ support time as well as reduce the level of complexity needed for customers to integrate digital cameras with frame grabbers. Customers will also be able to use volume pricing to help cut back on their costs.

Camera Link cable assemblies are designed with a high degree of flexibility in order to meet the needs of different camera and frame grabber manufacturers. Camera Link cable from C&M is comprised of 11 28AWG shielded twisted pairs and 4 30AWG tinned copper drain wires and a Small Camera Link cable constructed of 11 32AWG shielded twisted pairs and 4 30AWG drain wires. Both cable assemblies are electronically sound and able to maintain signal integrity.

Featuring a RoHS-compliant PVC jacket and braided shield, Camera Link cable assemblies provide clock rates up to 85 MHz and allow customers to extend the cable length up to 100 ft. These features make C&M Camera Link cable assemblies perfect for applications such as machine vision, manufacturing inspection, computer microscopy, astronomy, aerial mapping, image archiving, image processing and analysis, medical imaging, multimedia and security.

Camera Link cable assemblies are based on the Channel Link LVDS chip set from National Semiconductor. Channel Link is made up of a receiver and transmitter chip used to transmit digital data. By using one or two transmitter or receiver Channel Link chips, the standard defines a Basic, Medium, and Full Camera Link specification.
