RangeMax Next Wireless Router by NETGEAR is Available

NETGEAR has announced the immediate availability of the RangeMax Next Wireless Router with 10/100 Switch (WNR834B) and RangeMax Next Wireless Notebook Adapter (WN511B). Designed to support the growing variety of advanced, bandwidth-intensive applications in the consumer market, such as high-definition video streaming and IP telephony, the newest members of NETGEAR's RangeMax Next family of draft 802.11n-compliant wireless networking products utilize Broadcom's InteNsi-fi(TM) technology to deliver superior performance and robust wireless connectivity throughout the home.

The newest additions to the RangeMax Next product family join the RangeMax Next Wireless Router Gigabit Edition with 10/100/1000 Switch (WNR854T) and Notebook Adapter Gigabit Edition (WN511T), the world's first-available draft 11n-compliant wireless solution.

The WNR834B RangeMax Next wireless router incorporates a 10/100 Mbps switch to support bandwidth-hungry wireless applications in the home such as IP telephony, Internet sharing, downloading MP3 files, streaming high-definition video, and playing network games. For more demanding network requirements in high-end consumer and small business environments that cannot be constrained by the wired LAN throughput, such as large file transfers, LAN parties and multi-player online gaming, the RangeMax Next Wireless Router Gigabit Edition incorporates a 10/100/1000 Mbps switch to ensure maximum data throughput between wired and wireless clients.

The WNR834B and WN511B, which incorporate Broadcom's InteNsi-fi Wi-Fi technology to deliver faster speeds and more reliable connections at longer ranges than 802.11g-based products, will be compatible with InteNsi-fi powered draft 802.11n-compliant products from other manufacturers and are backwards-compatible with all legacy 802.11b/g wireless products. NETGEAR's "11n-True Test" high-performance testing and tuning process ensures the products are manufactured and tested to the maximum performance and ranges while its "Steady-Stream" technology embedded in these products delivers the most stable connections of any wireless networking solution available utilizing an advanced internal antenna design to optimize range and data throughput speeds.

RangeMax Next offers the most complete family of draft 802.11n-compliant wireless products, including:
o RangeMax Next Wireless Networking Kit Gigabit Edition (WNB511T) consisting of the RangeMax Next Wireless Router Gigabit Edition with 10/100/1000 Switch (WNR854T) and RangeMax Next Wireless Notebook Adapter Gigabit Edition (WN511T);
o RangeMax Next Wireless Router with 10/100 Switch (WNR834B);
o RangeMax Next Wireless ADLS 2+ Modem Router with 10/100 Switch (DG834N);
o RangeMax Next Wireless Notebook Adapter (WN511B);
o RangeMax Next Wireless PCI Adapter (WN311);
o RangeMax Next Wireless Access Point (WN802T).

The NETGEAR RangeMax Next wireless product family is the first in the industry to comply with draft 802.11n and delivers speeds of up to 300 Mbps. An advanced internal antenna design automatically optimizes performance. These internal antennas are incorporated into NETGEAR's newest industrial design casing, providing the next generation of style for which NETGEAR has been recognized with design awards worldwide. NETGEAR's RangeMax Next wireless product family provides users with all the great range of RangeMax while incorporating NETGEAR's new "Steady Stream" technology to deliver the stable connections required for signal-quality-sensitive applications such as streaming high-definition videos throughout the entire home and making Internet telephone calls. Last but not the least, all NETGEAR Next products are manufactured and tested with NETGEAR's unique "11n-True Test" process to ensure the highest performance possible for any draft 802.11n products.

The RangeMax Next wireless product family provides the security and ease of use that NETGEAR is known for with a robust set of features including: NAT and SPI firewalls, 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption, Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK), Denial of Service (DoS) attack protection, Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS), and Exposed Host (DMZ) for secure gaming.

With speeds of up to 600 Mbps, the emerging 802.11n standard is the next generation of wireless networking, delivering the speed, range, and reliability to support the most bandwidth intensive applications. 802.11n incorporates multiple technologies including Spatial Multiplexing MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out), 20 and 40 MHz channels, and dual bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) to generate the high speeds and at the same time communicate with legacy 802.11b/g devices. The 802.11n specification was approved for 1.0 draft status in March 2006, with ratification expected sometime in 2007. NETGEAR is committed to collaborating with the IEEE and WiFi Alliance to ensure that 802.11n devices will interoperate at the highest speeds without degrading performance of neighboring 802.11b/g wireless networks.
