| Uplogix Announces the Availability of Envoy 2.5 Uplogix has announced the general availability of Envoy version 2.5 and the Envoy Management Station (EMS) version 2.5. This suite of network management solutions enables both centralized control and remote automated support of today's complex, distributed networks resulting in cost savings to customers. Building on the success of Envoy 2.0, Uplogix is now delivering customers an enhanced product feature set to better manage the edge of the enterprise. Designed to simplify network management, and broaden network device coverage, Envoy 2.5 and the EMS 2.5 include a unique service level verification (SLV) module, UNIX server support, expanded satellite and GPS device coverage as well as enhanced reporting and centralized management capabilities. Uplogix' management appliances can be installed throughout the network to deliver remote command and control capabilities. Unlike traditional network management tools, the Envoy's next-generation OOB architecture provides Uplogix customers automated support functionality regardless of the state of the network. These "virtual network assistants" automate support operations that range from remote access and data collection, to fault diagnosis and recovery. By deploying these products, Uplogix customers have significantly reduced their overall network support costs, some by more than 50 percent. Envoy 2.5 and EMS 2.5 have been designed to give customers an easier and more cost effective method to manage their networks, especially at the edge. Key enhancements include: - Service Level Verification (SLV) Module - The unique SLV module enables customers to leverage the Envoy platform for synthetically measuring the performance of critical network services and applications throughout the enterprise. The SLV module collects performance data locally on each appliance, simulating service utilization from a remote point in the network from the end user's perspective. SLV performance data can be combined with network device-specific data to better pinpoint the source of a problem, which Envoy can automatically diagnose and resolve. - UNIX Server Support - Support for Sun Solaris servers enables customers to gain additional control over their remote IT infrastructure by delivering the capability to remotely monitor and manage business-critical servers tied to the network. - Expanded Satellite and GPS Device Support - Satellite communication device coverage has been added for both ND SatCom's SkyWan product line and iDirect's Infiniti series of remote satellite modems, enhancing Envoy's capabilities to manage both terrestrial and satellite-based networks. In addition, support for GPS devices has been added. This GPS data can be used to satisfy a number of mandatory compliance reports for the satellite communications industry. - Enhanced Reporting and Centralized Management Capabilities - The EMS reporting engine and interface has been significantly enhanced. Users can now schedule reports for email delivery as well as create their own customized reports to better manage their IT infrastructure. A new visual editor has been added for configuring management policies from the EMS and support for user-defined business processes is now available. In addition, more granular user authorization controls have been added to improve management security. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Networking News :: home page |
