| Hifn Announces Hifn Pattern Matching Hifn has announced Hifn Pattern Matching (HPM), a new content processing software. HPM accelerates compute-intensive pattern and signature recognition tasks for Enterprise and Carrier-class networks, as well as content inspection of packets traveling through the network. HPM contains "rule compression" technology that creates a highly compact rules database format. The database, along with HPM's small code footprint, resides in a microprocessor cache enabling unprecedented runtime performance. Network edge security devices and Unified Threat Management appliances all have the same fundamental limitation: they can only process packets at the speed they can detect signatures. HPM's performance advantages dramatically improve the overall throughput of these security systems. The ability to perform content inspection at line rate and across multiple packets and flows is essential to enabling the next generation of application- layer switches, routers, and network security equipment. Typical applications for HPM content processor software include unified threat management (U) appliances, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), anti-virus (AV) gateways, anti-spam appliances, and deep packet inspection (DPI) firewalls. HPM scans payload content of selected packets for worms, viruses, and other malware and operates at gigabit speeds on GHz CPUs. HPM content processing software is compatible with and optimized for all general-purpose CPUs (Intel and AMD) and embedded processors (MIPS and PowerPC). write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Networking News :: home page |
