| CyberDefender debuts first multi-threat security network CyberDefender Corporation, the security developer with the industry's most advanced early defense technology, today announced the launch of its patent-pending Collaborative Internet Security Network (CISN), designed to protect CyberDefender-enabled PCs against fast-spreading Internet attacks. CyberDefender is the first and only Internet security company using this secure high-speed client-to-client relay network technology to provide early warning and defense against Internet attacks. CyberDefender Chief Executive Officer Gary Guseinov said, "CyberDefender does for security what Skype did for telephony, deploying the world's first collaborative multi-threat security network to protect users against emerging Internet attacks -- fighting fire with fire. This broad-spectrum threat definition system is unique in the market today." The CyberDefender Network identifies unusual behavior, analyzes threats, creates the required definition files, and distributes those definitions automatically. Virus alerts are turned around in about an hour, as opposed to 12 hours or more for existing security providers. CyberDefender works seamlessly across all types of threats, providing a first line of defense against spyware, phishing, viruses and worse. CyberDefender products work with other desktop security software, providing an early line of defense without interfering with current scanning or system monitoring. That means added peace of mind for both users and network administrators. The current delay in updating threat signatures is a major and well- documented issue. According to Information Security Magazine, "so-called short-span attacks ... strain the ability of antivirus software makers to create and distribute antivirus signatures fast enough to squash the outbreak." The CyberDefender Collaborative Internet Security Network (CISN) The network starts with CyberDefender-protected PCs, each of which is a listening post that quickly reports suspicious files to CyberDefender's Threat Central for analysis. There, an automated expert system rates attacks on a scale of one to ten and creates new signature files. The threats are handled two different ways based on their rating. Threats rated five (5) or above are self-propagating and identified as viruses. The signature files are immediately created and uploaded to the Alert Server for relay to the user network without waiting for a scheduled update time. Total elapsed time: about one hour. The remaining threats (those rated below five) are considered spyware and normally need more analysis. They are sent to a human team for confirmation, after which they too are uploaded to the Alert server for relay to the user network. Relaying on a secure client-to-client collaborative network allows CyberDefender to deliver threat updates with very little impact on network resources, and to send updates immediately throughout the network without having to schedule multiple batch network blasts.
