| Advantech AMT to Acquire EMS Satellite Networks Advantech AMT, a manufacturer of satellite and terrestrial wireless communication equipment with corporate headquarters in Montreal, Canada, announced today that it has agreed to purchase the EMS Satellite Networks division of EMS Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: ELMG). Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The sale is expected to close before the end of 2005. David Gelerman, Chairman and CEO of Advantech, said, "EMS Satellite Networks is the world leader in DVB-RCS system sales, and has a strong team of professionals with over 30 years of satellite communications heritage. The purchase of EMS Satellite Networks is a major strategic addition to Advantech AMT, and will bolster our company's systems and network-level capabilities. We will maintain and continue to support all the existing products and leverage cross-companies' expertise in areas such as DVB-S2 and ACM to achieve truly symbiotic results." Al Hansen, CEO of EMS Technologies, Inc, said, "We believe that we have found a strong strategic buyer for our Satellite Network division in Advantech AMT. They bring significant value to each other, thereby enabling the successful and profitable growth of the business." EMS Satellite Networks together with SpaceBridge Semiconductor (previously acquired by Advantech AMT) will form Advantech Satellite Networks. Satellite Networks will enjoy an expanded product range and capability, expanded international sales and service presence, and significant complementary range of products in combination with its parent company, Advantech AMT. Advantech Satellite Networks will be lead by Donald F. Osborne, previously Senior Vice-President and General Manager of EMS Satellite Networks.
