| NETGEAR launches new stackable smart switches NETGEAR Inc., a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced the expansion of its industry-leading line of affordable, feature-rich family of ProSafe Smart Switches with the launch of the ProSafe 24 Port 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch with 4 Gigabit Ports (FS728TS), ProSafe 48 Port 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch with 4 Gigabit Ports (FS752TS) and ProSafe 48 Port 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch with 4 Gigabit Ports and 24 Power over Ethernet Ports (FS752TPS). Designed to support the needs of growing SMB and mid-market companies, the ProSafe FS728TS, FS752TS and FS752TPS deliver to users performance and scalability through a 4Gbps, dual-ring, resilient stacking architecture that provides the ability to mix and match to stack up to 192 10/100 ports. As with other NETGEAR ProSafe Smart Switches, they offer key management features at about the same price as an unmanaged solution, including trunking, port configuration, VLANs and prioritization, and are easily managed via SNMP or through an intuitive, browser-based GUI. Additionally, the new ProSafe Stackable Smart Switches expand on the current ProSafe Smart Switch feature set by adding 801.x security, SNMP v2c and v3 support, Syslog with SNTP, rate limiting and Layer 3 prioritization. Delivering superior performance and expandability, the ProSafe FS728TS, FS752TS and FS752TPS each feature four Gigabit Ethernet ports for connection to servers or the network backbone and two hot-swappable Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) GBIC slots that provide fiber connectivity for greater distance and security. The FS752TPS integrates IEEE 803.3af to support up to 24 Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices such as IP-based surveillance cameras, Voice over IP (VoIP) phones, wireless access points including the NETGEAR ProSafe 802.11g Wireless Access Point (WG302), ProSafe 802.11g Wireless Access Point (WG102), ProSafe Dual Band Wireless Access Point (WAG302), and the new ProSafe Dual Band Wireless Access Point (WAG102) and other IP-based devices. "Since NETGEAR created the Smart Switch category with the launch of the ProSafe FS526T in 2003, we have led the market by delivering everything that a growing small or medium business demands from its network infrastructure -- performance, versatility, manageability, and affordability, " explained Peter Newton, NETGEAR Senior Product Line Manager. "The addition of the stacking capability with the integration of more Gigabit Ethernet ports provides a new level of scalability and flexibility that enables end users to leverage the performance and cost advantages of Smart Switching while easily and affordably scaling upward as their infrastructure demands increase." NETGEAR's ProSafe 24+4 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch (FS728TS), ProSafe 48+4 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch (FS752TS) and ProSafe 48+4 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch with 24 PoE Ports (FS752TPS), are value-packed switches targeted at the demands of growing businesses for a network infrastructure solution that delivers performance, scalability, ease-of-use, and affordability. With the ability to easily manage features including performance monitoring, port configuration, VLAN for traffic control, port trunking for increased bandwidth, and Class of Service (CoS) for traffic prioritization through a browser-based management GUI or via SNMP, FS728TS, FS752TS and FS752TPS users can obtain the benefits of network management without the cost and complexity of a fully-managed network. In addition, both switches work seamlessly with NETGEAR's powerful network monitoring and management software, ProSafe Network Management System (NMS100), which enables users to quickly and easily configure, manage and diagnose the network. Equipped with 24 10/100 Mbps (FS728TS) and 48 10/100 Mbps (FS752TS and FS752TPS) Auto-Sensing Fast Ethernet ports, the new ProSafe Stackable Smart Switches include four 10/100/1000 Mbps Auto-Sensing Gigabit Ethernet switching ports for fast connections to servers or a Gigabit backbone. In addition, both Smart Switches feature two hot-swappable SFP GBIC slots that provide fiber connectivity when used with optional GBIC modules including the ProSafe GBIC Module 1000BASE-SX Fiber SFP (AGM731F), ProSafe GBIC Module 1000BASE-LX Fiber SFP (AGM732F), and ProSafe GBIC Module 1000BASE-ZX Fiber SFP (AGM733). NETGEAR's ProSafe 24 Port 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch with 4 Gigabit Ports (FS728TS), ProSafe 48 Port 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch with 4 Gigabit Ports (FS752TS) and ProSafe 48 Port 10/100 Stackable Smart Switch with 4 Gigabit Ports and 24 PoE Ports (FS752TPS) are backed by a five-year warranty and 24/7 technical support. The FS728TS and FS752TS and are available now via leading direct marketers, e-commerce sites and value-added resellers at list prices of $350 and $660 respectively. The FS752TPS will be available in January 2006 at a list price of $1, 050. In addition, these new switches are covered by NETGEAR ProSupport optional support offerings, including such services as advanced technical support (OnCall 24x7) and next business day hardware replacement (XPressHW). write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Networking News :: home page |
