AT&T wins networking contract from Snap-on

AT&T Inc. announced today it has won a three-year global networking services contract from Snap-on Inc. to support its growing global business. Snap-on is a leader in professional tools, diagnostics and equipment. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

AT&T will provide an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) enabling Snap-on to integrate its European network of 19 locations across France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The AT&T solution also paves the way for Snap-on to evolve to a converged voice and data-networking platform for future IP applications.

"AT&T offered us a high-quality solution that complies with our business continuity and connectivity needs, " said Jeanne Moreno, Snap-on Vice President and Chief Information Officer. "AT&T's networking expertise and reliability, allows us to focus on our core business of serving our customers more effectively and efficiently."

Through the secure VPN, Snap-on gains the attributes of a private data network within a shared network infrastructure. With this network, AT&T offers enterprise-class scalability and reach, along with many of the performance and security characteristics traditionally found only in dedicated private environments.
