DigitalStakeout announces 'Hack Free Holiday'

DigitalStakeout, a leading provider of vulnerability assessment and vulnerability management services, announced that the company is launchinghttp://www.hackfreeholiday.com,as part of its "Hack Free Holiday" initiative aimed at helping companies stay safe from web application-based vulnerabilities that could lead to theft of confidential customer data.

"The problem couldn't be clearer. Two recent studies show that A) 70% of the web applications on the Internet are vulnerable to web application-based attacks; and B) Internet user trust is plummeting and the cost of Internet crime is rising exponentially, " said Mike Pearson, CEO of DigitalStakeout. "Our Hack Free Holiday initiative is designed to give both consumers and e- retailers the peace of mind to conduct business safely online this holiday season."

DigitalStakeout believes the root cause of this disturbing situation is inadequate vulnerability management, especially when it comes to security at the web application level. Organizations simply cannot keep up with the rapidly changing threat landscape they face in this area.

"Online businesses need to address web application security threats by implementing an effective web application vulnerability management process. The first part of this process starts with security awareness and education, " said Adam Mikrut, DigitalStakeout's CTO. "This initiative was created to do just that, to help everyone understand how to approach vulnerability management with web applications."

In an effort to combat this situation, DigitalStakeout will conduct one free web application vulnerability scan for any U.S.-based organization until December 24, 2005.

Organizations requesting this assessment will be provided with a one-time, no-obligation, web application vulnerability scan which identifies security holes and provides recommendations for their repair.
