| Sonic Chambers Quartet announces new album Spontaneous Situations  New Orleans-based Sonic Chambers Quartet announces the release of their second album, Spontaneous Situations, on November 6, 2026. On this independently released disc, the group explores alternative compositional frameworks for improvisation, guided by text pieces, non-traditional notation, and extensive rehearsal conversation.Recorded in 2025, the record features co-leaders Byron Asher and Tomas Majcherski performing on seven different woodwind instruments total. This textural diversity is underscored by the rhythm section elasticity of bassist Matt Booth and drummer Doug Garrison as they explore traditional roles and extended techniques. Across the 12 tracks, the band imagines a new sonic universe for themselves, taking influence from soundscapes of the natural world, global music traditions, our solar system's electromagnetic waves, ambient music, serialism, and traditions of American free improvisation.
