| All About the Balkans On Sunday, January 18th at 5pm at Gallery MC, Composers Concordance continues its 42nd season with 'All About the Balkans, ' a concert event celebrating the culturally-vibrant region traversing the borders of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey. Balkan-inspred compositions by Svjetlana Bukvich, Natasha Bogojevich, Dan Cooper, Velizar Iordanov, Ginka Mizuki, Machiko Ozawa, Milica Paranosic, Gene Pritsker, William Schimmel, Dave Soldier, Marina Vesic, and Mark Zaki will be performed by an ensemble including Michiyo Suzuki - clarinet, Gene Pritsker - guitar, William Schimmel - accordion, and Machiko Ozawa, Mark Zaki - violins, Milos Veljkovic - piano, Velizar Iordanov - synthesizer/drum machine, Svjetlana Bukvich - Arturia MicfoFreak synthesizer plus electronic elements. Featured on the program are Milica Paranosic's Kad Ja Podjoh'; Gene Pritsker's 'Taste of the Infinite'; Velizar Iordanov's 'Omdre'; and Svjetlana Bukvich's 'Balkan Dance Remix'; as well as paintings by Milos Raickovich. Directed by Gorazd Poposki, MCNYC is a non-profit multicultural interdisciplinary art gallery committed to the research, production, presentation and interpretation of contemporary art.
