Kasper Rietkerk's The Happy Worrier

We're so excited to present Kasper Rietkerk's new offering, featuring vocalist Rebecca Edlund and backed by none other than the Dave Brubeck Foundation. Dedicated to Ubuntu Music founder Martin Hummel, The Happy Worrier is a reflection on a deeply personal journey by one of the Netherlands' most intruiging talents.
Out on June 27, 2025

Following his win of the Brubeck Living Legacy Prize, Rietkerk composed a deeply personal and cinematic body of work that reflects both vulnerability and quiet strength. The album features twelve original compositions performed by an exceptional electric bass), Jonah Evans (drums), and guest vocalist Rebecka Edlund.

Rietkerk's sound world blends folk-inspired melodies, jazz improvisation, and a strong sense of space and restraint. From the shimmering opener "Lost in Glow" to the soulful groove of "Blueberry Pancake, " each track tells a story. Edlund's haunting vocals on "Scream for Silence" add a sacred, intimate texture, while freer compositions like "Opinion…" reveal the band's remarkable chemistry.
