Chiara Izzi Appearing at Keys Jazz Bistro Wednesday, June 25th 7PM San Francisco

The show explores a captivating cultural moment from the 1950s and '60s, when American pop hits were adapted into Italian and became hits in their own right. Expect fresh jazz arrangements of these iconic songs, original compositions, and inventive reinterpretations.

Chiara Izzi is an award-winning Italian jazz vocalist and composer based in New York City since 2014. Her international breakthrough came with a first prize win at the Montreux Jazz Festival, awarded by Quincy Jones, followed by a performance opening for Paco de Lucía. She has since graced major stages like The Kennedy Center, Montreux, Birdland, and Blue Note, collaborating with renowned artists including Kevin Hays, Chris Potter, and Nilson Matta.

She received the Independent Music Award for Best Jazz Song with Vocals for her composition Circles of the Mind, a recognition that highlights her strength as both a performer and composer. Her debut album Motifs earned critical acclaim, subsequent releases, including Across the Sea (Jando, 2019), a co-led project with pianist Kevin Hays, further highlighted her depth as an artist. Hays described Chiara as having "a sense of sincerity and honesty, a lack of artifice". Her most recent release, Live in Bremen (Dot-Time Records, 2022), was praised by DownBeat as "immediate and unfiltered, Izzi's performances lie all the more exposed for the open setting." Described as "a force of nature" (All About Jazz) and "a talent to be heard and admired" (JazzTimes), Chiara continues to inspire through her music, which bridges cultures and genres with honesty and heart.
