| The DIVA Jazz Orchestra - Tappin Thru Life, feat: Ann Hampton Callaway, Clint Holmes.. A Celebration of Maurice Hines – Tappin Thru Life is a posthumous cast album honoring Maurice with the music from his award-winning show Tappin Thru Life; essentially the soundtrack of his storied and wonderful life. This recording features original cast members John Manzari (tap dancer and vocalist), Leo Manzari (tap dancer and vocalist), Sherrie Maricle (Music Director and drummer) and The DIVA Jazz Orchestra, along with special guests Grammy nominated vocalist Clint Holmes and Tony nominated vocalist Ann Hampton Callaway. It swings from the downbeat to the finale and aims to expresses the joy that Maurice's life gave to the world. Tappin' Thru Life was Maurice's autobiographical swinging, song and dance musical that told his life story through the music and experiences that inspired him throughout his 75-year career. It also celebrated his brother Gregory, his family, and other show-business icons who helped shape his life as an award-winning singer, dancer, actor, choreographer, writer, and director. The show co-starred the "fierce" (as Maurice would say) tap dancing Manzari brothers, the power-house DIVA Jazz Orchestra, and an array of young tappers. The show officially closed in New York City on February 21, 2016, but Maurice continued performing until the pandemic struck in March of 2020. He spent his "3rd act" (as he liked to say) at the Actor's Fund Home in Englewood, NJ. His last impromptu performance was there, and just like always, he sang, danced, told stories and lit up the stage like a quasar – the brightest, most powerful object in the Universe. In 2016, Maurice Hines - Tappin' Thru Life won four Audelco Awards, including Musical Production of the Year, Outstanding Performance in a Musical, Male (Maurice) and Outstanding Choreography for Maurice, and Outstanding Director/Musical Production, Jeff Calhoun. In 2014, it won two Ovation Awards, Best Ensemble of a Musical and Best Music Direction, Sherrie Maricle. During his nightly Too Marvelous for Words encore, Maurice would dedicate each performance twice. First to his mother, Alma. He'd say: "Whenever I am on stage, I always follow the advice she told Greg and I, 'No matter what you do on stage and in life, always do it with class!" Then he would express his heartfelt love and appreciation for the audience, and he meant every word. ALL TRACK CREDITS: 1.
