'eko vizion meusik' unique spelling is part of the "vizion" of mastermind Dion Kerr, who wanted to create a world that transcends usual musical and spoken language while breaking down boundaries in between. This album envelops listeners in futuristic textures, lush harmonies, and grooves inspired by Caribbean, African, and gospel traditions. Dion is widely recognized as one of the most prolific and skilled bassists of his generation, proficient on 4, 5, and 6-string electric basses and upright bass. His playing seamlessly blends virtuosic technicality with a soulful, expressive quality, allowing him to deliver a heartfelt, melodic voice through his instrument. The album introduces a new sound in jazz, shaped by Micheal, Watson's virtuosic and sonically adventurous guitar stylings. This sound has already earned them performances in some of NYC's finest jazz clubs and abroad. The rhythmic mastery of Kerr, Russell, and Chiverton complements this. The guest artists blend seamlessly with the core group, creating a powerful and unified wall of sound. Produced by Dion Kerr, who brings his multi-instrumentalist expertise to the project, the album features Kerr playing guitars, percussion, and cello, rounding out the sound design. It isn't easy to pinpoint this album's vast influences, drawing from classical, Latin, and world music traditions. One thing is sure: the sound of eko vizion meusik pushes musical boundaries, embracing the capabilities of modern instruments and technology. With the group's members already performing with some of today's leading jazz figures, eko vizion meusik represents a bold vision of jazz's future. Artist Statment As an artist, I am deeply fascinated by the convergence of technology and sound. I navigate dreamlike landscapes that blur the boundaries between reality and the digital world. My work explores what is real, analog, and virtual, delving into the spiritual core of nature and the fictional narratives that arise from this journey. Through the fusion of acoustic and electronic elements, I draw inspiration from a wide range of styles, creating a unique, genre-defying sound. My compositions feature melodic, groove-driven instrumentals that reflect my diverse musical influences, inviting listeners into a space where the familiar merges with the surreal. Central to my creative process is an unyielding commitment to experimentation, which allows my music to transcend traditional boundaries and take on a fluid, ever-evolving form. Nature, especially the rich environments of Florida, is a profound source of inspiration. I weave ambient textures and live samples of natural sounds into my music, transporting listeners into the spaces where my compositions emerge. I am drawn to complex harmonic and rhythmic textures, exploring how linear movement can generate harmony. My performances integrate original video projections, creating an immersive experience that combines visual and auditory elements. Improvisation is another key aspect of my work. One of humanity's most extraordinary traits is our ability to improvise naturally. It is a pure and intimate way to connect with ourselves and those around us. write your comments about the article :: © 2025 Jazz News :: home page |
