Fall Into a Rabbit Hole of Delicious Sound with New Trio Album from Up-And-Coming Saxist Eric Shorter & 577 Records - Release Date: May 2nd, 2025

Savoring the sounds of budding saxist Eric Shorter is like adventurously choosing a lesser-traveled path and discovering that it's filled with unexpected harmonies and rhythmic changes that make you feel alive. At the end of this avant-garde passage lies a most precious treasure that can only be described as aural bliss. Recently, he fused saxophones, piano, and drums to achieve a riveting, aleatoric recording he's calling Shorter Bendian Shields (after the trio that created it). 577 Records is ecstatic to present Eric Shorter's debut album!

Whether you know him from his acting career or discovered him first through his music, there's no denying Eric Shorter's talents. He's also an award-winning poet and spoken word artist. Though his sax skills are the highlight of this album, he plays the flute, guitar, bass, and drums, too!

With pianist Davie Shields on the 1928 Steinway M and percussionist Gregg Bendian keeping time, Shorter infuses the atmosphere with his playfully experimental approach to the alto and tenor saxophones. It is a rare convergence that delivers a blast of spontaneous composition, creative triangulation, and raw interplay. Eric explains that the absence of the bass is intentional, removing a proverbial "anchor" to allow the voice of each carefully selected instrument to expand freely in all directions.

Don't miss what could easily become the soundtrack of your life! Featuring eight glorious tracks, Shorter Bendian Shields will be available on CD and for digital download starting May 2, 2025.
