Kellylee Evans Receives 2025 JUNO Award Nomination for Winter Song

Acclaimed jazz vocalist Kellylee Evans has been honored with a 2025 JUNO Award nomination for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year for her latest release, Winter Song. This marks Evans' fourth JUNO nomination and follows her 2011 win for Nina in the same category.

Evans' nomination for Winter Song reaffirms her status as one of Canada's most cherished jazz artists. Over the years, she has earned multiple JUNO nods:

2025 Nominee – Winter Song (Vocal Jazz Album of the Year)
2018 Nominee – Come On (Vocal Jazz Album of the Year)
2011 WINNER – Nina (Vocal Jazz Album of the Year)
2007 Nominee – Fight or Flight? (Vocal Jazz Album of the Year)

Evans' music has always blended jazz, soul, and R&B with powerful storytelling, and Winter Song is no exception. The album is a heartfelt collection of holiday standards and originals, with her soothing title track "Winter Song" standing out as a stunning seasonal anthem.

Born in Scarborough, Ontario, and now based in Ottawa, Evans drew inspiration from childhood memories and the deep emotions tied to winter.

"I think as an only child, growing up watching holiday movies and consuming so much media of warm, cozy homes filled with happy families gathered around, I had a sense of longing for that and wanting to create that when I grew up, " Evans shares. "But as an adult, I now know how complicated those manufactured images of an ideal family life can be. Family is what we make all around us."

Co-produced by Evans and Steve Foley (J-Cole, Chad Kroeger, Carly Rae Jepsen), Winter Song blends timeless melodies with modern arrangements. The album features an eclectic mix of classics, including Joni Mitchell's "River, " Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You, " and John Lennon's "Imagine." Evans' original composition, "Winter Song, " beautifully captures the emotional nuances of the season, from its melancholy solitude to its heartwarming moments of togetherness.

Beyond her JUNO-winning discography, Evans has performed alongside legends such as Willie Nelson, John Legend, and George Benson. She has overcome personal hardships, including surviving a 2013 lightning strike, which she now speaks about in public engagements focusing on resilience and the importance of self care

With Winter Song, Evans continues to make an astonishing mark on the Canadian jazz landscape. As she embarks on a tour through Quebec and Ontario, her music promises to connect well beyond the holiday season.
