In his prolific career, Benjie Porecki has enriched the music of a countless number of artists in such settings as jazz, pop, funk, R & B, urban, country, rock and mixtures of the above. Through it all, the pianist and organist is tastefully harmonious while adding his own lively musical personality and creativity to the music. Porecki has also recorded many sessions of his own.

All That Matters features Benjie Porecki at the head of a trio that includes bassist Michael Bowie and drummer Mark Prince, performing six of his originals and four other beloved pieces. While mostly heard on piano, Porecki also adds organ to some of the more gospel-oriented numbers.

While there is plenty of variety in moods and tempos, each of the ten selections on All That Matters fit into the themes of love, loss, and the things that truly matter in life. The program starts with the easy-listening groove of "Passage Of Time" which has a nostalgic feel. "Just When I Needed You" the Roberta Flack song from the soundtrack of the Richard Pryor/Cicely Tyson movie Busting Loose begins with a relaxing groove before building up in dramatic fashion and becoming quite soulful. "Wise Decisions, " with its powerful organ playing, would fit in well in church. "Home At Last, " one of the strongest originals of the set, has the joyful feel of a samba.

Jazz pianist Hampton Hawes' "Sonora" is a jazz waltz that Benjie interprets as a thoughtful medium-tempo ballad. "All That Matters" is quietly emotional and the type of late-night performance that inspires deep thoughts about life. "Intermezzo" has an infectious groove and Sam Cooke's Bring It On Home" features Porecki and his trio building in intensity and passion during each chorus. "Letting Go" displays thankfulness that a loved one is able to let go after a long health struggle while the closing "She's Gone" is full of acceptance and joyful optimism for the future.

Benjie Porecki has had a wide ranging career playing piano, organ and guitar in a wide variety of genres. A professional since he was 15, he has worked with such notables as Carlos Santana, Buddy Guy, Pieces of a Dream, Maysa, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Kirk Whalum, Tom Scott, Nnenna Freelon, and Angie Stone among many others. He has also led his own albums starting with 1996's Going On Through.

All That Matters is the latest accomplishment in Benjie Porecki's career, a grooving and subtle trio outing that includes some of his most sensitive and inventive writing and playing.
