JAN. 6TH @ 7PM CITY WINERY NYC Guitar God GARY LUCAS (Jeff Buckley, Captain Beefheart) has released over 50 acclaimed albums as a leader or co-leader to date, and toured in over 40 countries worldwide, since cutting his teeth as a member and featured soloist of Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band. Gary may be best known for co-writing and playing on the first two songs on Jeff Buckley's double platinum "Grace" album (Jeff thanked him in the liner notes for "magical guitarness")—but those who have heard him live in whatever context he is playing in over the last 44 years are still raving about it. In 1989 he formed his longtime band GODS AND MONSTERS, featuring a revolving cast of stellar players orbiting around Lucas's incendiary guitar playing on both electric and acoustic. Over the years group members have included Jeff Buckley, Jerry Harrison, Billy Ficca, Julia Heyward, Jason Candler, Keith LeBlanc, Tony Thunder Smith, Jared Michael Nickerson, Richard Barone, Emily Duff and Matthew Sweet, This special City Winery show marks the debut of Lucas's latest group lineup, now a psychedelic power trio / jam band featuring the rock-steady propulsive bass of Ernie Brooks and the exploding nebula of drummer extraordinaire Calvin Weston.
