Bassist John Menegon is in the line of George Mraz and Michael Moore, a harmonically sophisticated bassist with technical facility who swings hard when it's called for. Kirk Silsbee - Downbeat****

Wonderful concert last night, led by John Menegon, with Jean-Michel Pilc, Chet Doxas & Jim Doxas. Seriously swinging, very accessible yet intriguingly unpredictable. UPSTAIRS in Montreal
Jean-Pierre Leduc, Lunched Management & Booking, Montreal

The music presented by Bassist/Composer/Educator John Menegon, in collaboration with these exceptional musicians, pushes the boundaries of today's music on the world stage. The intuitive, spontaneous nature of the music between the musicians in the Quartet is deeply rooted in the traditions that come out of the Free Bop era of Ornette Coleman, Dewey Redman, and Paul Motian, to name a few. The music is created in the "moment of now!"

New York City Bassist, Composer & Arranger JOHN MENEGON started his career as a Jazz Bassist in Montreal. After having worked for several years on the Canadian Jazz Scene, he then went on to hone his skills in NYC in the mid-80s. Since moving to NYC to study Jazz at Long Island University on a full scholarship, John has performed and recorded with Dewey Redman, David "Fathead" Newman, Matt Wilson, Frank Kimbrough, John Hicks, Yoron Israel, Jack DeJohnette, Kenny Burrell, Kenny Barron, Paul Bley, Anthony Braxton, Sheila Jordan, Joe Lovano, and many others. John was an integral member of the Dewey Redman Quartet as well as the David "Fathead" Newman Quintet, and spent well over a decade performing, touring, & recording with them. He currently leads his own group and is an in-demand sideman in New York City and elsewhere, as well as continuing to compose and create.

This is John's 6th release as a BandLeader: Misterioso, Search Light (featuring Dewey Redman), Soul Advice, I Remember You, Blew By Blues, Sound Embrace
