Pianist Laurent Coq Trio Releases Third Trio Album "Confidences"

Known for his acclaimed collaborations with saxophonists Miguel Zenon (Rayuela) and Walter Smith III (The Lafayette Suite), pianist Laurent Coq releases trio album displaying his singular talents both as a composer and improviser.
One of France's most respected pianists, for his artistic integrity as well as the fertility of his musical conceptions, Laurent Coq presents "Confidences", his third album in the demanding format of the piano trio, following "Spinnin'" (2004) with Reuben Rogers and Otis Brown III and "Kinship" (2017) with Joshua Crumbly and Johnathan Blake.

Known for his collaborations with leading musicians on both sides of the Atlantic, from Miguel Zenon to Walter Smith III, from Sophie Alour to Julien Lourau, Laurent Coq presents a series of eight original compositions which are all moments of musical truth. Beliving in the the stimulating virtues of form, knowing how to combine rigor and delicacy, accuracy and softness, Laurent Coq has woven a set of tunes that are developed and improvised in close collaboration with his sidemen, double bassist Yoni Zelnik and drummer Fred Pasqua.

Behind each of the eight "Confidences" that they deliver, in the form of a whisper as well as a tormented speech, one can hear stories and moments of life, which there is no need to explain so much as the music summons its own characters and transforms into a story. Expressing deep feelings, matured over a long period of time, featuring liner notes by long-time collaborator drummer Guilhem Flouzat, "Confidences" as been described by Marlbank.net as "an exemplary piano trio jazz recording".
