JANE IRA BLOOM TRIO W/ MARK HELIAS & MATT WILSON SUN, APRIL 14th @ 4:00PM SOAPBOX GALLERY BROOKLYN NY

Soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom, bassist Mark Helias and drummer Matt Wilson come together to create trios discovered in the moment in a way that is rarely heard today. Whether performing Bloom's compositions or improvs in the moment, these long-time bandmates find new ways to navigate the spaceways. Don't miss these fearless jazz explorers.

Jane Ira Bloom has come through the pandemic with four remotely recorded digital albums and a Grammy nomination for best immersive audio (Picturing the Invisible). Spring 2024 has brought the possibility of returning to live performance and Soapbox Gallery has offered the perfect acoustic setting for her upcoming projects. After presenting her duo with bassist Mark Helias last November live with no amplification, she looks forward to returning to the gallery in trio format with long-time bandmate Matt Wilson on drums. It's a special, one time concert event.

Don't miss this "powerful trio of fearless jazz explorers who share a commitment to beauty and adventure."

Soapbox Gallery is dedicated to presenting music, performance and works of art that engage the issues of our time. The room itself is a beautiful, meditative environment that was designed with state-of-the art acoustics to showcase exceptional musicianship from around the world. The gallery was founded on the premise that art and culture are powerful reminders of our shared humanity, which can help to shape identity and promote social evolution. Soapbox was inspired by the idea that a simple, humble box–that one stands on and delivers a speech from–can start a movement and perhaps even help to change the world. It's our mission to create space for civil conversation between those with differing views. The intent of our programming is to create a dialogue where everyone has a seat at the table.
