Rome Neal's Banana Puddin' Jazz celebrates Patience Higgins and his Sugur Hill Quartet at TNC - Feb 26th 7PM

"PATIENCE HIGGINS AND HIS SUGAR HILL QUARTET'S LAST NIGHT AT ST. NICK'S PUB" is a docu-film by Rome Neal of the band's last jam night performing at the historic jazz club St. Nick's Pub (after a ten year run) with a variety of if you didn't know them then, you know them now, Jazz Greats sitting in for an awesome night of Music of the Spirit... JAZZ!

Patience Higgins is a multi-reed player who has been a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra for the last twenty years. He has played at the White House in front of the Obamas and also toured and recorded with Frank Foster and Count Basie Orchestra, Savion Glover, Aretha Franklin, Lionel Hampton, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Scott... He's played inBroadway shows like: Ave Q, Dreamgirls, The Wiz, Ain't MisBehavin', Bubbling Brown Sugar, Black & Blue, Runaways, Hair, Sophisticated Ladies and Jelly's Last Jam. his Sugar Hill Jazz Quartet was the longest running band at the Legendary Jazz club ST. NICK'S PUB, which Rome has made a docu-film about and will also air with his concert on Monday, February 26 @ 7 PM at Theater For The New City on the lower east side. David F. Gibson Drummer, Percussionist, Composer, Teacher Philadelphia-born musician, David F. Gibson, toured extensively and recorded with the Count Basie Orchestra under the direction of Frank Foster. David has also performed with a host of artists and ensembles, including Joe Williams, Clark Terry, the Sun Ra Arkestra, the Odean Pope Saxophone Choir, the Diane Schuur Trio, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and the Woody Herman Orchestra. Music critic, Chip Deffa (the New York Post) says that "Gibson's drumming is strong and fluid and as satisfying as any drummer I heard in years." Music critic, Jerry Carrier (the Philadelphia Daily News) says, "Gibson may be the ultimate band drummer." He is also featured on recordings that include Diane Schuur's Music is My Life and Harry Sweets Edison's Live at the Iridium. He is an adjunct faculty member at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Temple University.
Marcus is a consummate musician who possesses a diverse musical vocabulary. He's toured the U.S. and the world with notable artists that include Joseph Bowie's Defunkt and Willie Colon. He's also performed with Jerry and Andy Gonzalez, the Impressions, James "Jabbo" Ware, Vanessa Rubin, Savion Glover, and the Apollo Theater Showtime Band. Marcus has also shared the stage with immortals of the pantheon of greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Cecil McBee, Tito Puente, and Charlie Persip (Super-sound). As an integral part of Harlem's musical scene, he was a member of the Sugar Hill Quartet for nearly two decades in the band's residencies at St. Nick's Pub, Lenox Lounge, Minton's Playhouse, and Smoke (on the Upper West Side).

Donald Nicks has been the bassist with Roy Ayers and has toured extensively with him as well as: Jorge Sylvester, Orlando Aviles, Luther Thomas, Nora McCarthy, Nancy Wilson, Henry Threadgill, Charles Earland, Ray Mantilla and records and performs all over New York and the U.S. and well as Europe.
