Alex Bird & Ewan Farncombe Get JUNO Award Nomination For Vocal Jazz Album Of The Year

Renowned jazz singer, songwriter, and actor Alex Bird and pianist Ewan Farncombe continue to make waves in the music industry with their groundbreaking approach to the Great American Songbook. Building on the success of their previous albums, Bird and Farncombe captivated audiences with their latest release, Songwriter, now officially nominated for a JUNO Award in the Vocal Jazz Album of the Year category, pushing the boundaries of tradition while ushering in a new era of jazz innovation.

The 11-track recording is the third on which the two of them have worked together as the Jazz Mavericks.

In 2022, the Toronto-based band earned a JUNO nomination for Bird's sophomore album, You Are the Light and the Way. Bird also released the Thanksgiving single The Sweetest Moments this fall and surpassed over 350, 000 steams on Spotify.

In addition to his JUNO nomination, Bird has exciting projects on the horizon. He is set to release a special all-original Bossa Nova EP in collaboration with Latin Grammy Award Winner and Grammy Nominee, Cheo, a founding member of one of the biggest bands to come out of Venezuela; the jazz/funk band Los Amigos Invisibles, and was discovered by David Bryne. This EP, scheduled for release in May, promises to showcase Bird's versatility and creativity as an artist. Furthermore, Bird and his band are halfway through writing their next full-band album, slated for release later this year.
