FAENA LIVE ANNOUNCES THE 6th ANNUAL JAZZ SERIES AT THE FAENA THEATER MIAMI BEACH, FL

Faena Live is thrilled to announce the return of the annual Faena Jazz Series in its sixth season, once again curated and produced by Grammy nominated producer Rachel Faro. In keeping with Faena's commitment to delivering unparalleled offerings and experiences jazz lovers from South Florida and beyond are invited to enjoy the sounds of great jazz at the intimate and glamorous Faena Theater at Faena Hotel Miami Beach.

Presenting today's greatest emerging and established jazz artists since 2017 (with a couple of years off for the pandemic), the 2024 lineup is especially strong, presenting established artists such as Arturo O'Farrill, Richard Bona, Sammy Figueroa, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Aymée Nuviola and emerging stars such as jazz a cappella group Accent, Grammy-nominated vocalist Nicole Zuraitis and vocalist extraordinaire Michael Mayo.

We are especially thrilled to be kicking off our season on January 13th with the return of the fantastic singer Jazzmeia Horn. Jazzmeia opened our very first season in 2017 as a young emerging artist and has since gone on to win a Grammy and several Grammy Nominations, tour throughout the world and record seven albums. She is undoubtedly one of the greatest jazz stars of today.

It is our strong belief that music has the power to transform the lives of young people. Working with Young Musicians Unite and the Frost School of Music at UM we will be offering various opportunities for young people outside ranging from large master classes to intimate workshops and in-theater opportunities to meet and assist artists at the venue.

JAZZMEIA HORN
Wednesday January 17th, 8 PM
The 6th Annual Faena Jazz Series is pleased to welcome back Jazzmeia Horn, one of the most spectacularly talented and important young jazz artists of today. A Grammy winner and multiple Grammy nominee, winner of the Sarah Vaughn Vocal Jazz Competition, the Thelonius Monk Institute International Jazz Competition, and the NAACP Outstanding Image Award, Jazzmeia is a complete artist who expresses her creativity and skills in multiple ways from her amazing vocal technique to her sense of style. Jazzmeia opened our very first season and we are thrilled to have her return after her many successes.

NICOLE ZURAITIS
February 28th 8 PM
Vocal artist, pianist and songwriter Nicole Zuraitis has been called a "supreme talent and purely expressive artist like no other - a first rate songwriter, powerhouse vocalist and grade A pianist" (All About Jazz). Her most recent album, "How Love Begins" co-produced with jazz hero Christian McBride, is currently nominated for a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Making her Miami debut on the eve of Women's History Month, the Jazz Series at Faena once again takes great pride in presenting an emerging jazz artist on the eve of global success.

RICHARD BONA'S ASANTE TRIO

Cameroonian multi-instrumentalist and Grammy winner Richard Bona is considered to be one of the world's greatest bass players, composers and educators. With his unique bass sound and enchanting vocals, Richard Bona has toured, composed, recorded, and created with Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Chick Corea, Sting, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, Chucho Valdés, George Benson and many more. Mentoring young talents is an important component of his artistry and includes a strong relationship with Young Musicians Unite in Miami. The Asante Trio is Richard's latest ensemble and it is a true inter-cultural collaboration, integrating Cuban, Haitian and African elements.

ACCENT
Wednesday April 3rd 8 PM
Who doesn't love the sound of the human voice, especially when it's delivered by six energetic young men from all over the world? Accent's members hail from France, Sweden, the UK and the USA. The improbable meeting of these six self-described "jazz vocal nerds" could only have happened in the age of social media. After becoming long distance fans of each other's YouTube videos, they met and collaborated online, eventually coming together in person. Since then they've released five albums and performed all over the world, including two sold-out Christmas shows at London's Royal Albert Hall.

SAMMY FIGUEROA with GONZALO RUBALCABA & AYMEE NUVIOLA

The Faena welcomes back the legendary percussionist and multiple Grammy nominee Sammy Figueroa in his first Miami show in two years. Joined by the great piano maestro Gonzalo Rubalcaba and the spectacular Cuban singer Aymée Nuviola, Sammy will be presenting the music from his latest, acclaimed album Searching For A Memory (Busco Tu Recuerdo), dedicated to his father, Charlie Figueroa, the great 1950's romantic singer. Inspired by this recording, Sammy has lately discovered his own magnificent voice and will be performing for the first time in Miami as a singer.

ARTURO O'FARRILL QUINTET with special guest TELMARY DIAZ
Wednesday May 22nd 8 PM
Long considered as one of the most influential and active personae in Latin Jazz today, the Faena is honored to present Grammy-winning pianist/arranger/educator Arturo O'Farrill in a very special intimate concert. The son of beloved Cuban composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo continues the O'Farrill musical lineage with this quintet featuring Arturo's sons Zack O'Farrill on drums and Adam O'Farrill on trumpet. Joining them will be Telmary Diaz, generally acknowledged to be one of today's most articulate and talented young Cuban rappers and singer-songwriters.

MICHAEL MAYO
Wednesday June 19th 8 PM
Michael Mayo is widely considered to be one of today's greatest young talents whose commanding and other worldly vocalese is quickly gathering critical and commercial acclaim around the globe. A son of L.A. music royalty, his father was a member of Earth Wind & Fire and his mother a first call session singer with artists such as Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and others. Most recently he has recorded and performed with Herbie Hancock, Jacob Collier, Jon Batiste, Gretchen Parlato, and Josh Groban among many others and performed at the White House and the Kennedy Center, with solo standout performances at the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Detroit Jazz Festival and the Monterey Jazz Festival
