Notami jazz Gavagai Fattori/Sebastiani

GAVAGAI is a musical project that is the brainchild of Michele Fattori, who finds in Marcello Sebastiani the ideal partner. Michele Fattori is a visual artist on the international market and has been working for years on the themes of analytical philosophy, pragmatism, having woven his own poetics on these themes in painting as well.

The project combines the proposal of standards with that of original pieces that are of instantaneous composition, without any plot or written notes. The discourse goes back to free jazz, but tries to go beyond this vision precisely because of the lack of any point other than the first notes played by the person starting the piece.

So not just a matter of free improvisation on a more or less structure or theme, but a total instantaneous composition. The result is a work that can be considered a musical elaboration of W. Van Orman Quine's philosophical speculations, precisely the title Gavagai, which sets out to emphasise the problem of translation, in this case into music, and that of the executive interpretation of the compositional object. It is a journey towards full expressive freedom, ranging from a traditional invoice with hints of innovation in the standards, to suites and unpublished pieces that are born from the encounter of two, let's call them like this: texts; two textologies, two unique authors but in communication in translating themselves united in Music.
