| Bennett Paster RADIANCE CD Release Saturday 12/16, 8pm IBEAM BROOKLYN As the world around us grows ever more complex, Bennett Paster has looked to music as an antidote: something to settle, to soothe, to smooth the wrinkles from our modern lives. His latest album, RADIANCE, reflects the results of his search. An exuberant expression of the jazz piano trio tradition, RADIANCE is music at the crossroads of beauty and groove. Synthesizing elements of soul jazz, boogaloo, blues and funk, with singable melodies and a touch of modern harmony, the music is satisfyingly listenable while still substantial and genuine. RADIANCE places groove and swing front and center, and Paster's all-original compositions run the gamut from understated to joyous. His fluent pianism, distinctive musical voice, and effortless melodicism ring true, as he and his classic trio of piano, bass, and drums reinvent and carry the jazz tradition into the future.
