New Holiday Single - Hutchinson Andrew Trio

Hot off the heels of their latest album, The Senator: A Tribute To Tommy Banks, the award-winning trio offers their take on this holiday classic, with an arrangement by Galaxie Rising Star Award-Winner Chris Andrew (piano) alongside Kodi Hutchinson (bass) and Dave Laing (drums).

Recorded live off the floor at the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton, Alberta.

About the trio and their recent album:

The multiple-award-winning Hutchinson Andrew Trio (HAT) is a vital and distinctively western force on the Canadian and international jazz scenes. Winners of the prestigious TD Grand Jazz Award at the 34th Annual Montreal International Jazz Festival and a four-time Western Canadian Music Awards nominee, HAT brings a unique perspective to their music inspired by the vast prairie landscapes and majestic Rocky Mountains that surround them. Downbeat Magazine made the group an Editor's Pick and called them "a terrific listen, with great musicianship throughout."

Pianist Chris Andrew is a National Jazz Awards Rising Star Award Winner and singular voice on piano and compositions in Canada. His music rewards the listener creating shifting textures, melodies, rhythm and tonality that reveal themselves constantly.

Chris has brought all his talents to bear on the trio's recent release, The Senator: A Tribute To Tommy Banks. An homage to his mentor and inspiration, the Honourable Tommy Banks (OC AOE FRCMT).

Recorded live at Canada's longest running jazz club The Yardbird Suite in Edmonton, AB, the music features a different side of the HAT. They step away from the contemporary back to their roots in traditional jazz alongside Canadian jazz masters PJ Perry (sax), Al Muirhead (trumpet) and rising star Mallory Chipman (vocals).
Praise for The Senator:

"On this complex musical structure, the trio is once again acclaimed for its elegance and lightness in interpretation. Indeed, this album is a true delight to listen to, making it one of our favorites..."

- Paris Move

"The quintet is very tight and very musical varying their approach between swinging group play and excellent soloing. This traditional jazz CD sparkles with great touches. This is a joyous and upbeat CD… Chipman's voice is ideally suited for the vocals on three well-known standards. Her flowing, soaring voice highlights the nuances of the songs… I recommend you seek this CD out for the sheer joy of hearing a talented group play great songs."

- Jazz Views

"This is one of those albums that puts a smile on your face from start to finish. It swings, and has a lineup of talented musicians who make each selection sound just right. It would have certainly pleased Tommy Banks!"
