Guitarist Scott Emmerman puts forth Spheres after the global success of Rogers Park

Based in Kansas City, MO and having played the guitar for over 60 years, Scott Emmerman is a versatile, creative guitarist and composer who produces an exciting blend of guitar-based music. Scott Emmerman's compositions incorporate elements of R&B, jazz, and fusion rock.

Born and raised in Chicago, Scott was steeped in the blues at an early age and became enamored with the music of Jimi Hendrix. Later he began to explore jazz through the music of John McLaughlin and Miles Davis. He has performed with R&B singer Walter Jackson and founded the band Treeborn that released an album on Dharma Records in 1975 featuring his guitar playing and compositions. In 1980, he relocated to Los Angeles and participated in recording sessions with Bobby Womack and Tim Weisberg. His guitar playing and 3 of his compositions were featured on Weisberg's 1982 CD release, High Risk. In 1992 he co-composed, played guitar and produced the single "Wheelchair Ballet, " featured on the China Beach Music & Memories CD on SBK records. In 1999, he released A Table Near the Cheesecake, with the band Equinox. In 2000, two of his compositions/ performances were featured as soundtracks on the Weather Channel and in 2007, Equinox recorded the album The Peace of Wild Things.

Since relocating to Kansas City, Scott frequently performs around town in the various jazz clubs and in January 2023, he released an album called Rogers Park featuring virtuoso drummer Marty Zevin and produced by legendary bassist, Jimmy Haslip. The album featuring nine original jazz-rock compositions that were written and arranged by Scott. Rogers Park has been received thousands of downloads on Spotify, YouTube, iTunes and Bandcamp.

Scott's latest release is titled Spheres. Musically, this album carries on from where Rogers Park left off and it demonstrates the further development of his composing, arranging and guitar playing expertise in ten new tracks, ranging from funky grooves, to swing, to jazz-fusion.

Recorded in Spring of 2023, Spheres features Marty Zevin. All compositions on Spheres were written by Scott except for an instrumental version of the song "Yearning for Your Love" that was a hit for The Gap Band and was written by Oliver Scott and Ronnie Wilson and "Judgement Day" that was a collaboration between Scott and Marty Zevin. The ten tracks are all instrumental and feature Scott's expressive guitar playing on both acoustic and electric guitar. Musical styles include jazz-fusion, elements of world music, funky dance grooves and lyrical melodies.
