| New from David Haney and Cadence Media: Merch on Etsy, New Music Releases, Upcoming Concerts Hi, my name is David Haney. I am a pianist, jazz musician, author, and since 2012, I have been the publisher of Cadence Magazine, "the premier magazine about improvised music in the world..." The All Music Guide to Jazz Cadence is a thorough and honest guide to and through the current Jazz and Improvised Music scene and has a loyal, worldwide readership of knowledgeable, hard-core improvised music fans who find things in Cadence they can't find anywhere else. Prior to taking on the magazine, I recorded 15 albums for the original Cadence group. For a few years I was featured in the magazine, and in 2011, I was featured on the front cover. The original Cadence group started the magazine in 1976 and set the standard in jazz for an independent free press, and I have done my best to follow it while maintaining my steadfast dedication to the elite community of outstanding, unspoken heroes, the jazz, blues, avant-garde, improvising musicians. My main purpose as publisher has been to provide a much-needed service to the underserved artists by shining a light on their work and providing much-needed coverage, and exposure and by supporting their efforts, not the advertisers, in every way I can. That to me, more than anything else, is what is needed and what is crucial to our culture as well as imperative and important in these ever-changing times. For the past 11 years, I've kept it going - and doing so on a jazz musician's budget. 2022- 2023 have been financially difficult for many people and Cadence Magazine is no exception. Our revenues plummeted and for a period of time, we operated in the negative but managed to keep the magazine operating and in so doing are now facing dire financial circumstances. Cadence needs your support. Though subscription revenues are starting to improve, it's not enough to get us out of the debt accrued during the pandemic. We need your help now so we can continue doing the good work and are humbly asking for donations – no amount is too small. Your contribution will be rewarded. Cadence employs some of the best writers in the business and covers some of the most important aspects of the craft. Cadence features a host of great interviews and articles about important people in music that might not be included elsewhere. Cadence is creating a legacy of audio, video, and print articles. The Cadence Index started in 2020, is an extensive database for music researchers, students, and teachers. I am proud of Cadence, its history, its legacy, and all it represents.
