PAT PHILIPS PRESENTS DJANGO REINHARDT NY FESTIVAL "24 Years" @ BIRDLAND NOV 14-19

Legendary Gypsy Violinist/Guitarist Dorado Schmitt is returning to the Birdland stage after over 4 years, accompanied by his very talented sons, Samson & Amati on Guitar. He will also be joined by cousins Francko Mehrstein on rhythm Guitar and Gino Roman on Bass, an all 'gypsy' family Band! They come from the Lorraine region of France where Django was God.

"Buoyant Rhythmm, blinding technique, solid entertainment." - NY Times

Django's unmistakable cool and jumpin 'joie de vivre' have made him an icon for greats from Carlos Santana to Eric Clapton to Jimi Hendrix. The music brings one back to Paris in the 20's and 30's when 'gitane' music filled the air, in the cafes, in the streets...when Stephane Grappelli, top French Jazz Violinist teamed with Django Reinhardt creating The Hot Club Quintette which made history and and the creation of "Hot Gypsy Jazz."

This music will lift you up, send your feet dancing in your seat as Dorado, Samson and Amati swing like crazy. It was a romantic time in Paris in those days. The music today still thrills audiences and smells of romance with ballads that can break your heart!

"Sensational." - Downbeat Magazine

"The highpoint of the entire Playboy Festival at the Hollywood Bowl
